STEM AT MACDONOUGH

Students at Macdonough School are exposed to interdisciplinary units of study that have at their foundation a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Students are provided the opportunity to become independent learners and thinkers through Project-Based Learning.

All of our projects focus on the Engineering Design Process in order to solve real-world problems.

Engineer of the Month

Our Engineer of the Month is Lorelei from Mrs. Ciccia’s first grade class! Lorelei has been selected as our Engineer of the Month because she uses the Engineer Design Process to carefully plan and create all of her projects. Lorelei is always willing to model the expectations and stages for her peers. Also, Lorelei enjoys hands-on learning and displays her creativity through her work. Keep up the great work, Lorelei!

Classroom Highlights

Fifth graders are currently exploring aviation as they participate in the SOAR program created by the New England Air Museum located in Windsor Locks, CT. Students are using the Engineering Design Process to create airplanes, test out their flight, and connect with professionals employed by the New England Air Museum with much expertise in the world of aviation. We love connecting with our community…so please send any references our way!
